Fire crocus

The fire crocus is a flower native to Onaona Island in the Dragon Crescent. It grows only on the slopes and base of Mt. Otemba. It bears some similarity to the Igian Mountains crocus of Indacce, but is not likely to be directly related to the continental flower.

The fire crocus is a hardy perennial, and typically blooms in late summer or early fall. Depending on the northern continental breeze, the flower may stay in bloom until early spring, or as early as late autumn in a cold year.

The flower is often purchased from the natives (or, less commonly, harvested directly) by alchemists of Lore City or nearby major cities. A skilled alchemist can use the petals to enhance potions and elixirs akin to fire. In particular, one use of the fire crocus is in the crafting of improved alchemist's fire, a mixture for which the flower is expressly required.
